MAC Glamour Daze Review on We Heart This!

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

It's that time - New holiday products from MAC! Lucky lucky me, I got to play with a few new eye and cheek shades from MAC's Holiday 2012 collection, Glamour Daze. It's a really cute collection (especially those nail polishes). If you have your eye on anything, I'd hurry on that since a lot is already sold out online. MAC is one of my favorite makeup brands so this was quite the treat!

My thoughts on this selection of MAC's Glamour Daze collection is right over here on We Heart This.  There you will also find swatches, photos and even more reviews for the rest of the collection!

If you got anything from Glamour Daze, I'd love to know what you picked out!

These products were sent to me for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own (obviously!). For further details, please see We Heart This' disclosure policy.

Cookie Bear

Sunday, November 25, 2012

How was your Thanksgiving weekend? A four day weekend is pretty great! However, I am not used to having so many days off in a row that I find myself forgetting what day it is.

To help lighten the load for my move this week, I made the decision to let go of my green desk shown above (originally a hand-me-down from my sister). It has been painted and moved twice from its roots in Jackson Heights. Today it moved into its fourth home, my friend Jewlie's apartment, sitting pretty in its current state of Benjamin Moore's Scuba Green. I really can't think of any other friend in NYC who I'd want to have this more and fill it with cute things.

While picking up the desk today, Jewlie's mom surprised me with this chubby panda cookie jar for me. I opened it and it's filled with homemade cookies! In Christmas shapes! Can you believe I've never even owned a cookie jar before until now? This is definitely a turning point in my life. If there's one thing to be thankful for, it's these cookies because they are really really delicious.  I can't stop eating them. Thank you so much Jewlie's mom!

Avery decided to make friends with the panda because she has really good treat radar.

LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub

Monday, November 19, 2012

Thanks to Pinterest and the rest of the World Wide Web, I'm well aware that it's easy to DIY my own lip scrub but I really really love LUSH's. Their flavors are so tasty and aren't just plain sugar flavored. They sometimes put a new one out for the holidays so when I saw they released this Popcorn Lip Scrub, I had this gut instinct that it was a must-have. It's just as intriguing as, let's say, Buttered Popcorn Jelly Belly beans. I don't know how convincing that is since that's an acquired taste to begin with.

The best part about this lip scrub is that it's both sweet and salty. It's unique but it tastes so good in a weird way that I can't even promise you will enjoy it! Not gonna lie, I did eat a bit of it outside of its intended use. LUSH also had one called Bon Bon two holidays ago and I did the same exact thing. Yup, eating my beauty products because I can.

Since it's limited edition and only $8.95, it's definitely worth a go. Lip scrubs are an essential winter beauty product for me so I was more than happy to take this one in. It exfoliates really well and I'm left with great results! They do have other lovely flavors that are available all year round but I'd give this one a try if you or a gift recipient has quirky taste.

Just a little warning: the nice employees at LUSH are a bit too enthusiastic about their products and will smother the shiz out of you. So you may come out either incredibly annoyed or with a shopping bag stuffed with an excessive amount of smelly bath bombs.

Manicure of the Moment: OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Okay, as I write this, my manicure of this actual moment is a sadly chipped version of the above. Still accurate, right? Between work and moving in two weeks, my personal computer time is becoming slightly more limited than I'd like. That leads to delayed posts and then my life starts to feel delayed as well. I cannot  wait for things to go back to normal.

If there's one constantly changing thing in my life it's my nails. So what better way to tie in my nail polish obsession with this blog? Hopefully you will enjoy this new little feature on here!

OPI's Every Month is Oktoberfest is from their rather recent Germany collection. It is described as a deep aubergine. In the bottle is looks like a typical shimmery red but on the nails it comes off as a blackened plum with red shimmer. If it was a true shimmery red (the kind that is featured in practically every holiday collection every year) I probably wouldn't even think to buy it since I'm more attracted to red cream nail polishes. The shimmer isn't too crazy but there is a perfect amount of dimension. I'm loving it for fall and winter! This is the first OPI nail polish I've purchased in a very long time and I'm pretty pleased with my decision!

What is your manicure of the moment?
