In Preparation for Fall...

After a long, annoying, and smelly (not me, others!) streak of 95 degree weather, it was finally in the 70's yesterday and I took full advantage.  I grabbed my jeans and my new army green jacket from H&M and went to town!  No not really, but I did go to a screening for my friend Daniel's documentary, The Vinyl Frontier (check it out if you like vinyl toys/Kid Robot-ish stuff). Even though no one in NYC was wearing a jacket despite it being a breezy but beautiful day, I proudly wore my jacket because I am so excited for fall! Dear sleeves and pants, I miss you.

If you are looking for a cute military-esque jacket to take you into fall, I have nothing but good things to say about this jacket from H&M.  It costs only $35, is lightweight, has an optional hidden drawstring waist for girly appeal, 3/4 sleeves and a hood!   It comes in black, khaki and army green. On the racks they look really boring because the hoods are zippered up and hidden, and you can't tell at first that a hood even exists.  Once it's on with the hood out, it looks so good.  I like the length too.

I had a really good mail week. Here's one present that I purchased for myself: my Topshop "sheepskin" motorcycle jacket that I wrote about not too long ago.  I wasn't sure about it when I tried it on because with these sheepskin jackets, there is a bit of bulk - something I'm not always too fond of with outwear.   However, I think it's really cute and despite the slight bulkage, it still looks flattering. Oh, and it's super cozy!  I am digging the black on black.  At first, I was thinking about returning it but I had a change of heart after seeing it on in pictures.  I can't turn down a cute motorcycle jacket.  Is it a keeper? I think yes.

You know I can't leave out some beauty products to share.  Thank goodness for swapping because I now have these two gorgeous Deborah Lippmann nail polishes in my possession.  As pretty as they are, the retail cost of these polishes sometimes make me cringe. So now I have three Lippmann polishes including Happy Birthday.  I love swapping!  (Sanitary swapping, since I'm a germaphobe.)

The silver one is called Marquee Moon, and it has matching silver glitter inside that offer a unique texture to the final look rather than a typical glittery finish.  I have nothing like this in my collection.

The pink is called Some Enchanted Evening.  It's a cute salmon glitter that's a Nordstrom exclusive.  I trust that Lippmann's glitters always look good so I am excited to wear this too!

The other day I received a plain black envelope in the mail from MAC and thought, "Oh just another promo card" with the usual bit of hope for a preview invite because they do have fun little launch parties.  I like their promo cards and I actually save them, but hello!  I haven't been to a MAC preview party since the Makeup Art Collection until....

A Venomous Villains preview invite! Oh so exciting!  I saw the products and swatches on Temptalia and nothing actually made me do backflips.  There's one thing I might want and that is Resort Life lipgelee because I missed out on it from the Lilyland collection.  Other than that, I'm not sure if I want anything else.  But you bet I'll be going to this because it's still a really cool collection...and it's Disney!

This last, extremely generous package was sent to me by a nail company called Incoco.  They sell a product that is similar to the application of Minx nails, but can be done at home.  I won't say more because it's going to be a part of my guest blogger review for Beauty Debutante, so stay tuned for that soon.

I hope everyone has a good week.  As much as I don't want to go to work, at least it'll be a short week.  I'll be attending the Independent Fashion Blogger's Evolving Influence Conference this Thursday which means another day off from work!  I get to spend the day listening people talk about blogging...way more fun than sitting at my desk all day.  You can get your tickets here but I would act fast because I'm sure they will sell out by then.  I'm so excited!  What do I wear?
